Kelly gave birth to her daughter Emily at 31 weeks via emergency c-section.  Emily was born at Danbury Hospital, but was taken to Yale about an hour after her birth.  It wasn’t until two days later that Kelly was able to be transported by ambulance to Yale to see Emily.  Emily was diagnosed with a heart condition, Supraventricular tachycardia, and spent 8 weeks at Yale.  Doctors were hoping to get Emily’s heart condition under control so that she could go back to Danbury Hospital to grow, and be closer to home, but several setbacks kept Emily at Yale for the entirety of her NICU stay.  Emily is now a hospital social worker and connected her mom after meeting Tiny Miracles staff while working at Bridgeport Hospital.  Being a first time mom whose baby was in the NICU was not anything Kelly expected, and she would like to help support families on their NICU journey, as there was no Tiny Miracles Foundation when Emily was born.
