Gala Raises More Than $200,000 for The Tiny Miracles Foundation

WESTPORT, CONN., May 12, 2014 … More than 300 friends and supporters attended the recent gala for The Tiny Miracles Foundation (TTMF), which raised in excess of $200,000. “A Night of Miracles,” the organization’s ninth annual major fundraiser, took place for the first time in Westport this year, at the Inn at Longshore. The Tiny Miracles Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vital support and assistance to families with premature infants throughout Fairfield County, and to helping the medical community provide the best possible care for these babies and their families.

The sold-out event included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a strolling dinner, dancing to the sounds of the Tremors, and silent and live auctions. Many “tiny miracles” participated in the event. Wearing signs with their names and birth weights (most under two pounds), and their current age and weight, these healthy children welcomed and mingled with the guests. A touching video showed many “miracles” TTMF has shared: a tiny baby starting to thrive through the combination of dedicated medical services and the love of parents; the first time a mother holds her tiny infant; and the joyous day of bring that infant home. Gwen Noto, Co-Founder and Immediate Past Executive Director of TTMF, thanked all of those that make the work of TTMF possible through their time and generosity.

According to Leelee Klein, President of TTMF, this year’s gala raised the most revenue in the history of the organization from any one event. “We are particularly grateful to the large Westport crowd that attended the gala – and to the many Westport businesses that supported us as well. And, of course, this wonderful event could not have taken place without our three amazing co-chairs – Jennifer Lau of Westport, Lisa Broder of Fairfield and Marisela Esposito of Weston, who are all parents of premature babies.”

Many Westport families play major roles in TTMF as a result of the support they received after the birth of their own premature babies. In addition to serving on event, outreach and educational committees, parents also serve as mentors and advisors to new parents and are available to families both at the hospitals and in the parents’ homes.

Founded by two mothers of severely premature twins in 2004, TTMF is now beginning its second decade of providing critical support to families facing the crisis of premature birth through programs and services at Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford Hospitals, as well as to the preemie community at large. Helping over 1,200 local families per year, and countless others who use their website, TTMF remains the only organization to provide comprehensive support for families of premature infants in the region.

The Tiny Miracles Foundation is headquartered in Darien. For additional information, visit www.ttmf.org or call 203-202-9714.
