Mentor Training – Active Listening

When it comes to being a TTMF Peer Parent Mentor, taking an active listening approach is key.  Mentors and their mentees spend the majority of their relationship talking and listening to one another.  Active listening helps the listener fully concentrate in order to understand, respond, and remember what is being said, reduced misunderstanding, and provides reassurance of genuine understanding.  This training session will provide you with an overview of what active listening is and how to implement this approach with your mentees.  This session is designed to be interactive as you will have an opportunity to practice the skills taught with fellow mentors. 

This session is intended for current TTMF peer parent mentors as part of ongoing yearly trainings offered and for those interested in mentoring in-person or virtually with TTMF.
